How to flash ParanoidAndroid ROM for the One S

The ParanoidAndroid ROM gives you the option of using a user interface design that is based off of Android phones and another layout that is based off of Android tablets and a layout that combines the best of both phone- and tablet-based designs. It also allows you to make further adjustments to these layouts through a number of options.
The ParanoidAndroid ROM’s hybrid UI and fluid performance is now available for your HTC One S through the port released by XDA Developers member klin1344.
There may be a few issues, but this ROM is very stable and great to use. Another good thing is that there is constant support and updates which address performance issues. It’s important to note that this ROM build only works for the One S with the 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor and not the 1.7 GHz Snapdragon S3 processor variant.
This guide shows you how to flash ParanoidAndroid ROM for the One S.

Requirements

• An HTC One S (variant with the 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor) with ClockworkMod Recovery and an unlocked bootloader.

• A Windows PC
• 7-Zip, WinRAR or any similar program that can extract archive files.
•  Download the following files:
  • ParanoidAndroid ROM for the HTC One S (pa_ville_2.17_06OCT2012_095239.zip, md5sum: caffe6781c258f4280d42a56f985d50c)
  • Google Apps package for HTC One S (gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip, md5sum: f62cfe4a827202899919fd932d5246d7)
  • Fastboot (Fastboot.zip, 404.46 kB)
  • ParanoidPreferences.apk (798.7 kB)
• Make sure your device’s battery still has at least 70% power. You don’t want the device to shut down in the middle of the procedure.
• Backup all personal data on your phone to make sure you have a copy of your personal data (e.g., contacts, SMS, MMS, Internet settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and the like) in case the procedure in this guide erases such data.

Instructions

1. Copy the ROM ZIP file and Google Apps package to your phone’s internal SD card.
2. On your computer, open the Fastboot ZIP file and extract all of
   its contents into a folder in your C:\ drive. Name the folder Fastboot.
3. Open the ROM’s ZIP file and extract boot.img. Put the image file into the C:\Fastboot folder.
4. Turn your phone off and boot into Bootloader Mode by holding down the Volume Down and Power keys together.
5. Highlight to “Recovery” using the Volume keys and select the option using the Power button.  This will boot the phone into ClockworkMod Recovery.
6. Select Backup and Restore and choose Backup. Once the process is done, go back to the main recovery menu.
7. Select Wipe data/Factory reset and confirm the action on the next screen.
8. Select Wipe cache partition and confirm the action on the next screen.
9. Select Advanced > Wipe Dalvik cache and confirm the action on the next screen.
10. Select Install ZIP from SD card > Choose ZIP from SD card.  Select the ROM’s ZIP file and confirm that you want to install it.
11. Repeat step 10 and install the Google Apps package in the same manner.
12. Turn off the phone.
13. Boot into Bootloader Mode again, as in step 4. From there, select Fastboot Mode.
14. Connect your phone to your computer.  The bootloader screen should say “FASTBOOT USB”.
15. On your PC, open a command prompt as Administrator.
16. Enter the following commands at the command prompt:
    • cd c:\Fastboot
    • fastboot devices
      • NOTE: The command above should list your phone’s serial number.
    • fastboot flash boot boot.img
17. You will get a finished/Okay message when flashing is successful.
18. Enter the following command to reboot your phone:
    • fastboot reboot
19. After the phone reboots, you can disconnect the phone from the computer.

Excellent job! You’ve now installed the ParanoidAndroid ROM on your HTC One S.
