ITC delays ruling on ban of Samsung devices for one week

ITC delays ruling on ban of Samsung devices for one week

Those who are keeping track of the legal tussle between Samsung and Apple will not get their climactic ending just yet, as the International Trade Commission, the agency who has a say in stopping devices from being sold in the U.S. in the event of patent infringement, has once again postponed the result of its investigation.
The ITC case, where several Samsung devices risk being banned in the country, was filed by Apple in July. A preliminary ruling on the matter was initially going to take place on October 19, but it has now been pushed back to October 25.
As for the reason why Administrative Law Judge Thomas B. Pender had to postpone the ruling, it can be attributed to the high case load that the he currently handles, some of which are involving Apple.
In case you’re wondering, the Samsung devices that are facing the chopping block include six smartphones and two tablets. They are the Samsung Galaxy S 4G, Fascinate, Transform, Captivate, Intercept, and Infuse 4G, as well as the original Galaxy Tab and the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
The ban on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, which was handed out by Judge Judy Koh in California, was recently lifted by the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
The listed products above aren’t exactly high-profile devices anymore, but remember that one banning case will set a precedent to future cases. While ITC is expected to make its initial ruling on the case on October 25, the final ruling will only be given out four months later.
