Featured: Sharp to Release Yet Another Superphone in Japan Only; The Aquos XX 203SH
Sharp? They make TVs and stuff, right? Right. However, for quite some time now they’ve been injecting their home turf of Japan with some serious high-end stuff. Of course, this doesn’t make it over to the States which is really disappointing but, it’s certainly nice to take a look at smartphone markets across the globe. Sharp are at it again and together with the Japanese carrier, Softbank, they hope to release their best phone yet before the end of Q1 2013.Sharp’s Aquos Xx 203SH will bring a large 4.9″ HD Display and a super high-resolution 16MP camera as well as a super fast quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro at 1.5Ghz. Full specs of this oriental monster are:
- 1.5 Ghz Quad-Core Snapdragon S4 Pro
- 2GB of RAM
- 32GB onboard storage with room for a microSD
- 16MP rear camera with 1.2 front-facing camera
- NFC
- TV tuner
I’ve always wondered why Sharp never ship phones to the US and it’s probably got a lot to do with the fact that carriers aren’t all that interested and they can probably leverage better deals with Samsung, HTC and Motorola. It’s a shame though because, these phones really do pack stuff in there and it would be great to have another big player in the States but, as HTC are experiencing now, it’s hard to keep a presence in such a large market like the US so, breaking in must be even harder. We can always dream though, right?
