Rumor: The Samsung GT-i9260 isn’t the Galaxy Nexus II, it’s the Galaxy Premier
Many of us are expecting Google to announce multiple Nexus devices this quarter. We know pretty much everything there is to know about LG’s Nexus, but what about Samsung’s? For the longest time, we thought they would update the Galaxy Nexus by giving it a slightly faster processor, a better camera, and call the resulting product the Galaxy Nexus II or the Nexus Plus. We saw a model number floating around the internet, GT-i9260, and we assumed that it simply had to be the new Nexus since the original Galaxy Nexus was the GT-i9250.Here’s what they think to be true: the Galaxy Premier will have a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, it’ll have a 4.65 inch 720p display, and it’ll look almost exactly like the Galaxy S III. The Premier will also have an 8 megapixel rear facing camera, a 2 megapixel front facing camera, and it’s going to run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out the box. It’s supposed to launch this quarter, and it should cost roughly 480 EUR.
Now we know what you’re thinking. Why is Samsung polluting the Galaxy brand even further? We wish we had an answer, but we don’t. Part of us hopes that these German guys are wrong, but we highly doubt it. What really bothers us is that the Galaxy S III is already down to sub 500 EUR in many countries. The Premier would serve to be a slightly smaller version, with a slightly worse processor, yet have a similar price tag.
It’s completely baffling.
