Huawei Y300 to offer Jelly Bean “butter” on the cheap starting in December
With Android 4.1 updates rolling out at a snail-like pace, it’s difficult to find more than a couple of smartphones running Jelly Bean to choose from. But what if you want a JB phone that won’t cost you an arm and a leg either? Forget about it.
For now, because in a few months some of you should be able to enjoy the “buttery smooth” experience of the latest Android version on a handheld that’ll only cost around $220. With no contract. The bad news? It might not enjoy a large-scale release, being only confirmed as hitting Brazil for now.
The Huawei Y300 is the name of this budget-conscious device spotted at a tech fair in Rio de Janeiro and slated for a launch just in time for the holiday season.
Weighing in at a measly 120 grams, the 4-incher will be sporting an 800 x 480 pixels resolution and what looks like a fairly elegant and possibly metallic exterior. The edges are sharp, but the corners are slightly rounded, so there seems to be a nice blend between the iPhone-like industrial look and the S3-like fashionability.
Under the hood there’ll be a promising 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, but a modest 512 MB of RAM and a pretty uninspiring 1,730 mAh battery. The rest of the specs are unknown, but you should definitely not hold your breath for more than 4 GB of internal storage or a camera with an above 5 MP sensor. Still, for a $220 phone with Jelly Bean, I for one would take it. Not to mention that when and if the Huawei Y300 will make it outside Brazil, it could even go for less than that.
Who’s up for some Jelly Bean “butter” on the cheap from Huawei?
