Upgrading the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket I727 to Jelly Bean via Slim Bean ROM
Sometimes, we just want a device that can be as fast, simple, and reliable as possible. The Slim Bean ROM, known for its lightweight file size and overall performance, has been recently released for the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket SGH-I727.
Released by XDA Developers member gmillz, this particular ROM has the extra clutter of apps removed and its essential apps modded to make it run smoother and lighter. This ROM’s overall optimized and simple approach to everything is a beast when coupled with the speed enhancements and larger displays added into the Galaxy S2′s AT&T variant, the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket.
Slim Bean has been known to be a reliable ROM for people who just want the essential things that an Android device is supposed to do and deliver the characteristically smooth and fast performance that we’ve come to expect from an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based ROM.
This guide shows steps for upgrading the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket I727 to Jelly Bean via Slim Bean ROM.

Requirements
- AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket SGH-I727 with ClockworkMod Touch Recovery

- Download the following files to your computer:
- Slim Bean ROM for the AT&T Galaxy S2 Skyrocket (Slim-2.6.0-i727.zip, 72.46 MB)
- Slim GApps (Google Apps) pacakge (slim_gapps.zip, 19.73 MB)
- Make sure your device’s battery still has at least 70% power. You don’t want the device to shut down in the middle of the procedure.
- Backup
all personal data on your phone to make sure you have a copy of your
personal data (e.g., contacts, SMS, MMS, Internet settings, Wi-Fi
passwords, and the like) in case the procedure in this guide erases such
data.

Instructions
- Copy the Slim Bean ROM and the Slim GApps package to your phone’s internal SD card.
- Turn off the phone.
- Boot into ClockworkMod Touch Recovery. To do so, press and hold down the Volume Up, Volume Down, and Power buttons until the screen turns on.
- Create a NANDroid backup of your existing ROM. To do so, select Backup and Restore. On the next screen, select Backup again.
- Go back to main recovery menu after backup is complete.
- Select Wipe data/factory reset and confirm on next screen to confirm.
- Go to Mounts and Storage and select Format /system.
- Select Install ZIP from SD card > Choose ZIP from SD card. Select the Slim Bean ROM ZIP file and confirm that you want to install it.
- NOTE: If the installation process ends too quickly, repeat flashing the ROM to your mobile phone.
- Repeat step 8 and install the Slim GApps package in the same manner.
- Select Reboot system now to restart your phone into the new ROM.
