Barfi Movie Review
How well it is said that true love is blind to all the prejudices set down by the materialistic society. It can nourish itself deeply even in the midst of penury and follow a completely no-holds-barred course. Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfi’ is just about that. ‘Barfi!’ narrates the story of the namesake character Barfi (originally named as Murphy by his parents) who has a speech and hearing impairment and lives every single day of his life to the hilt and how!
South Indian actress Illeana D’Cruz gets into the skin of her character named Shruti to tell the magical tale of Barfi (played by Ranbir Kapoor) who happens to be a happy-go-lucky character that lives with his ageing father in Darjeeling of 1970s. Barfi is endearing for his cute Chaplin-meets-Mr. Bean acts but more than that for his innocent and simple heart. In a typical rich girl meets a poor guy story, Barfi chances upon Shruti on her visit to Darjeeling and she finds herself losing her heart to him despite the fact that she is engaged to a wealthy man back in Kolkata. After a brief romance, Shruti chooses material comforts over true love and leaves Barfi heartbroken to marry the moneyed man.
The story moves back and forth from 1978, 1972 and 2012 in an easy-to-follow fashion and the film’s songs are simply soulful. Cinematographer Ravi Varman captures the picturesque North Bengal in a splendid way. Each frame seems like a beautiful painting.
All in all, Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfi!’ is a perfect sweet treat for his audience. Like it has been discussed, those film makers who have been portraying the handicapped as dull and boring in their films must take a lesson from ‘Barfi!’.

During the just concluded Test series against New Zealand, Sachin Tendulkar got bowled thrice in a row, thus creating a stir of sorts, with experts talking about his footwork and
if age was catching up with the Master Blaster.
Of course Sachin chooses to do all the talking with his bat. But he has some advice for him from across the border, from none other than the legendary Imran Khan.
Speaking exclusively to NDTV, Mr Khan advised the master batsman to leave cricket on a high. "Sachin is such a great player but I can only say if I were in his position, I would want to leave on a high and my greatest worry was that I should never be at the mercy of the selectors."
When asked if somebody like Sachin could ever be at the mercy of the selectors, Mr Khan said: "No, but why put yourself in such a position. I mean Sachin, what a brilliant record he has. Would he not want to? Again I put myself in that position, my greatest worry was that I would not be able to perform best to my abilities. So people will not remember me for when I was at the peak but when I was leaving my career.

Modi campaign started in Gujarat
Seeking a fourth term in office, the BJP stalwart also slammed the Congress for "attacking the constitutional authorities", accusing it of whipping up an atmosphere of anger against the Government auditor CAG like it did against the Supreme Court in the 2G spectrum allocation case.
Signalling that he would fight the coming polls on the plank of "injustice meted out to Gujarat", Mr Modi struck an aggressive tone to kickstart his 2012 month-long campaign through Swami Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra from the holy town of Becharaji in Mehsana.
Taking a dig at Congress' poll ad-campaign in Gujarat, Mr Modi said, "There are advertisements on television ninety times a day- 'disha badlo, dasha badlegi'. But what disha (direction) is this? The same disha of Delhi?"
"Do you want the same durdasha of Delhi in Gujarat? Corruption, curfew-- do you want all this? Gujarat does not want to see it now," Mr Modi said.
Mr Jaitely said under the Congress-led UPA government, corruption had reached its zenith and all developmental work had come to a standstill.
"The term 'policy paralysis' has been used for the first time in the country for this government," Mr Jaitely said.

Late Monday night at the United States Open, Sean Connery danced and Kevin Spacey clapped and the capacity crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium stood and roared in unison. Andy Murray, Scotland’s perennial tennis bridesmaid, covered his mouth with both hands, suspended in disbelief.
The crowd cheered for Murray, for Britain, for the tennis history it witnessed for nearly five hours. When the match ended, after Novak Djokovic’s service return sailed long, Murray had become the first British man to capture a Grand Slam singles championship since Fred Perry in 1936.
The final score was 7-6 (10), 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2. All of Britain, or so it seemed, heaved a sigh of relief. Its men’s singles drought, which started when Perry was just a tennis champion and not a name behind a clothing brand, had ended.

MUST READ,BE SAFE!
A housewife died due to burns sustained in the kitchen. Her husband too was hospitalized for injuries due to burns while trying to rescue his wife.
...How it happened?:-
The gas stove was on and cooking under process. The
lady observed some cockroaches near the sink and grabbed a can of insect killer and sprayed it near the gas stove, which was on. There was an explosion and in no time the poor woman was covered in flames, sustaining 65% burns. Her husband rushed in, tried to douse the flames and his clothes too caught fire. The husband is still in hospital, in the burns ward, still unaware that his wife was declared dead on arrival.
Let us understand: - All insect killer sprays such as "Hit", "Mortein" etc. have highly volatile and inflammable solvents. The atomized nano spray particles spread extremely rapidly and one spark is enough to ignite this explosive mixture with oxygen present in air.
Did the poor lady realize the hazard involved? Apparently not!
